Have you ever tried to use a manual lawnmower?

I mean the type without a motor that just spins as you push it. I just bought a new one for $100 from Lowes and let me just tell you that it is pretty much useless. The blades are about as sharp as a er knife and it doesn't cut the gr that has any kind of diameter at all. It will cut normal gr ok, but if it comes up against a weed, it doesn't work. You just have to bend down and pull it. Maybe I can sharpen the blades? Now I know why I never see anyone with this type of lawnmower anymore. I bought it because I'd never used one before and I figured that it would actually cut gr, but I guess I was mistaken. How the heck did people cut their gr back before there were lawnmowers with motors?
