Is it ok to have a larger amount withheld for bigger refund?

i had a lot more money withheld this year for one in anticipation of the new tax laws,did not want to be one of the ones who owe and to to make sure i had a forced savings plan.really my question is will i be red flagged for doing this and go through a long review and audit or is this something common that the irs computer does not really give much weight too?even with what i had withheld it only amounted to about 29% of my pay that year.i was told a story of a guy making roughly the same as me last year and having 30k withheld and getting back nearly 21k.is my having that much withheld gonna cause me a headache???
