When calculating the average atomic m of an element...?

When finding the average atomic m of an element, you multiply the atmoic m of an isotope by its abundance, and multiply the atomic m of another isotope by that isotope's abundance, and add them up. Then you divide that by 100. But why do you divide by 100? please help!
