The Shiba Inu...and runnning???

I have a question. I absolutely love the Shiba Inu, it was and still is the only breed of dog I want to get. I love everything about them, including that Shiba scream lol. I had a question though, I know Shiba's are unreliable offleash and I have heard people say with alot of consistent training a shiba could be allowed offleash, but it takes alot of time, and training. Both I would be more than willing to give my future Shiba. But since I cannot really prepare for what the dog would be lke. I was wondering how long in years are we talking for training more specifically off-leash training. I want to make sure that I would be able to give my dog as much training as possible. I do not want him to have to be onleash all the time. I have already talked to some Canadian Shiba breeders and they think I sound like a great canadidate for a Shiba once I'm ready to get one. I would love advice from Shiba breeders, or owners. Thanks in advance
