Virus from an ecard? How to remove it?

I have been receiving greetings from people I don't even know. They send me emails saying that i have received a secret love letter and likewise and in the email there's a link leading to the card. On the email i get their IP addy also. Is this a new form of virus?I clicked on the link and I think I got infected by it so what can i do to remove this virus
