What's your opinion on this poem?

I like it as a poem, but not as a source of wisdom. The beginning reminds me of the prodigal son from the Bible. The son took his inheritance and left his father. He spent his money unwisely and found himself in dire straits. However, rather than being unredeemable, the son was able to return to his father's estate, forgiven and welcome, and his Father celebrated.
