Why does the American media encourage and sponsor the criticism of our War Heroes?

I am a liberal but I despise and I am sick and tired of the media sponsoring and running stories about decorated war heroes. Where is the Patriotism? First it was the swift boat attacking J. Kerry, now its another group attacking McCain's service to our nation. What will we call the veterans from Iraq and Afganistan when the few remaining choose to run for office. It is kind of similar to when religion was embraced when it favored bringing morality to the White House and now religion is the demon that must not be in politics since it does not favor either candidates. Why is the media condeming American institutions just for political advancement? I do not care what Kerry or McCain did on active duty. We chose to decorate them when they got back. They had guts. What happens in Vietnam must stay in Vietnam and what happens in Iraq must stay in Iraq. Who is an honest politician anyway? So do not attack these Heroes that sacrificed for our freedom. Is anyone out there that understands?
